Our newsletter finally has a name: we've decided to call it Magazine. This second issue is devoted to auto/biographies, a genre that is still lagging behind here in Spain. Perhaps, Gerald Brenan suggested, because people don't keep personal diaries or their private correspondence, and because the heirs of prominent people with less than conventional lives baulk at going public. Yet this genre has always had a healthy following in English-speaking countries and in Germany, and so we would like to give it a little boost through our offerings here in this Magazine.
