Guenter G. Rodewald

Guenter G. Rodewald

The youngest of the four children of a devoted bookseller, he is a booklover and a Bremer - and very proud of it too. In his school days, he worked as an extra, an actor and a singer in the Bremen theatre. Later on he had a go at studying mathematics and law in the universities of Kiel and Bremen, though with results that fell rather short of brilliant, and so he opted for independence by working as a driver of trucks and buses.

Through his involvement with independent political and ecological groups in the 1970s, he finally achieved emancipation and eventually found himself working as a bookseller and partner in the Bremen bookshop Buchladen im Ostertor. In October 1985 he felt the urge to see a bit more of the world, and so he escaped to Barcelona with his friend Hartmut, without knowing so much as a word of Spanish, with no work, nowhere to live, and no money – but with boundless enthusiasm for starting out afresh beside the Mediterranean.

In the spring of 1986 he came across Ute Körner’s agency and started learning from her the ins and outs of an attractive profession he had never even heard of before: that of the literary agent. And that’s where he has been ever since. He lives on the outskirts of Barcelona with Hartmut, the lively Mia Farrow, an elegant cross between golden retriever and setter, Maggie, a terrier cross quick as a flash (see here), his snow-white cat Condoleezza Rice, and a large garden.

Sandra Rodericks

Sandra Rodericks

She was born in Barcelona, the daughter of a Catalan mother and an Indian father. Three languages were spoken in their home, Catalan, Spanish and English, all garnished with touches of Hindi.

When barely turned 18 she set out in search of new experiences and went off to Germany, knowing no German and not much about the Germans. She came back enamoured of the language and the people, and began studying German at Barcelona University, combining her studies with long stays in Germany, working as an au pair in Hamburg, and later as a Spanish teacher in the city of Halle/Saale.

After graduating she worked at first as a technical translator and film translator, but chance very soon brought her to the agency – in February 2000 – and she became the youngest and most native member of the team.

She lives in Barcelona with her partner Albert and their two children, Jana and Teo.

Born in Lleida, she studied English philology and German language in Barcelona. She soon discovered the world of books. A postgraduate course in Publishing brought her the opportunity to undertake practicals at Círculo de Lectores, where she was to learn everything amidst a magnificent team of professionals. She worked in the Club department for some years as a publisher of children's books and non-fiction works.

In the company of her German husband Moritz she went to Germany, where she lived for a long period, working at Pestalozzi Verlag, then part of the Egmont Group, in Munich.

On her return to Barcelona she joined Ediciones CEAC (Grupo Planeta) as an editor.

With this accumulated experience in support, her three children Eduard, Anna and Clara and her relentlessly buoyant good humour she joined the agency in 2008 as Senior Agent.
